We always look forward to Christmas because for a brief period of time we feel the joy of humanity. This season, however, comes on the heels of so much grief and violence in our midst. Yet, the Little Infant reminds us of how his simple birth reawakened the force for good that we can harvest in our world. Let us dedicate ourselves to such a noble goal.
It is also a time for our parish to receive, once again, some financial support to cover needed repairs and improvements. We have installed a second boiler at OLG at a total cost of $100,000. At St. Joseph, we plan to renovate the garden area outside the rectory. Your donation at Christmas will make these happen.
We have a total goal for both churches of $58,000 and will hold the collection open until January 15, 2025.
Christmas is more than just our collection. It’s about the spirit of love that Jesus ushers into the world, which badly needs it. Let us pray that one Silent Night will inspire us to sing all year long with peace, love, joy and justice.
