LENTEN PROGRAMS

ASH WEDNESDAY:  Ash Wednesday is March 1 and we have OLG Prayer Services at 10 AM, 3 & 5 PM and Masses at 12:30 and 7:30 PM.  At St. Joseph, there is a Prayer Service at Noon and Bilingual Mass at 7 PM.  Ashes are only given after the homily at all the liturgies.
OLD PALM:  You may bring your old palm to the choir room of OLG and the vestibule of St. Joseph and deposit them in the boxes.  We burn them for ashes to be used on Ash Wednesday.
BOOK:  We will have a Lenten Book Club discussion every Tuesday evening of Lent.  The book is, “Rediscover Jesus,” by Michael Kelly. We have hardcover copies at a steal on sale after all the Masses.  St. Joseph parishioners may obtain a copy from Catherine in the office and books are available at the Parish Center.  And occasionally Patrick will sell books after the daily Masses.  You can buy a book even if you do not want to come to the discussions.
SCRIPTURES:  Msgr. Paul Bochicchio will teach  "Surfing the Scriptures - Part II" in Lent and offer: An Overview of Lenten Themes and the Passion Narratives in the Four Gospels on two days and times: Thursday evenings:7:30-8:45 pm. FIRESIDE CHATS:  This Lent, we resume our popular Young Adult Fireside Chats every Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 8:30.  Here are the topics:  March 8: Why do we fast during Lent?; 15: What is God’s grace?; March 22: Not my will, but Yours be done; 29: Remembering to slow down this Lent; April 5: Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone; 12: Choosing the path of Jesus again and again.  The chats are informal conversations to help young adults explore and strengthen faith with each other. There is no homework, no reading and no expectations; just honest sharing.  We would like two people to facilitate each session. If you are interested, please contact the coordinators: Kate Grove katelyn.e.grove@gmail.com or Tom Coughlin thomasrcoughlin@gmail.com  Mark the dates on your calendar.  Come to one, all or when you can.
